Apprentices getting ready for further successes

EEF Cymru Wales is calling on companies in Anglesey and Gwynedd to nominate their top apprentices after the success of last year's awards.

Last year, three apprentices from Anglesey Aluminium - Matthew Walker, Kimberley Williams and Ian Wyn Jones - represented North Wales in the regional EEF awards final held in Cardiff, with Matthew Walker going on to win the Initial Year category. Now, apprentices from across North Wales have the opportunity to emulate their success by entering the 55th EEF Apprentice of the Year Competiton, which will be held at the CIA in Cardiff on December 8.

Engineering companies eager to recognise the work of their most talented apprentices can download an application form from www.eef.org.uk/cymru, and submit the entry before the deadline on September 30.

EEF Cymru Wales, the manufacturers' organisation in Wales, is a joint venture between EEF Western and EEF North West.

The principal objectives underpinning this joint venture are to ensure that EEF’s voice is heard clearly, and that EEF becomes ever more effective in representing members’ interests with the Welsh Assembly Government, and its key agencies’.

EEF is the representative voice of manufacturing in the UK with a federation of 11 regional Associations and ECIA, the Engineering Construction Industry Association.

EEF has a growing membership of almost 6,000 companies of all sizes, employing some 900,000 people from every sector of engineering, manufacturing, engineering construction and technology-based industries.
