Manual, Clerical and Technical Pay Survey South East Region - September 2008

The Manual, Clerical and Technical Pay Survey is published in March and September each year and provides benchmarking figures for manual, clerical and technical staff.

This survey contains data for Manual employees and Clerical and Technical employees. It covers full time male and female employees aged 20 and over. The survey does not include non-engineering roles such as security personnel and office cleaners. Director and management roles are also excluded from this survey.

The figures quoted in this survey are for basic salary. No account is taken of shift pay, overtime, stand-by or call-out payments or any other unconsolidated bonuses. When looking at the data, you must take into consideration other factors such as location, number of employees, turnover and sector.

The pay survey covers the South East Region but to enhance its usefulness the data is further broken down into five main areas based on postcodes, to highlight local nformation. The postcodes covered within each of the five areas are noted below:

1. Greater London - postcodes: SM, W, NW, N, E, SW, SE

2. Northern Home Counties - postcodes: UB, IG, RM, SS, CM, SG, AL, WD, HA, EN

3. South Coast - postcodes: DT, SP, BH, SO, PO

4. Southern Home Counties - postcodes: CT, ME, TN, RH, BN, KT, TW, CR, BR, DA

5. Thames Valley - postcodes: GU, RG, OX, HP, SL
