The Health and Safety Commission (HSC) is currently consulting on the Regulation proposed by the European Commission (EC) to adopt the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals – commonly referred to as ‘GHS’.

Cost of inquiry in to MG Rover exceeds £9m

The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has revealed the total cost of the inquiry in to the collapse of MG Rover is now over £9m. As at the end of July the cost of the inquiry was £7,838,156 together with disbursements of £370,551 and VAT of £1,436,163 the total is now £9,644,870.

Time running out to nominate your apprentice of the year

Companies have less than a month to nominate their employees for the 2007 Engineering Apprentice of the Year Award. The awards, now in their eleventh year, are run by EEF West Midlands to recognise and reward the outstanding engineering apprentices in the region.
