Region Director David Seall is leading the EEF team in the
south east.
David Seall
Welcome to the first issue of our new member newsletter, iNSIGHTS.
We will be sending you a copy every quarter, telling you
about our activities and events as well as the new and enhanced services we will be offering our members in the south east.
Our region is a key contributor to the wealth of the UK. Latest figures show that manufacturing Gross Value Added in London, the south east and the east of England totalled almost £43bn.
To put this into context, manufacturers contributed twice as much to London’s economy as its hotels and restaurants combined.
That said, we all know that conditions are getting tougher, but at EEF we think there is a huge opportunity for the manufacturing sector to remain competitive, dynamic and future focused.
We have welcomed the government’s new national manufacturing strategy, which we are pleased to see is heavily influenced by our campaigning on behalf of our members.
The future direction of manufacturing is one of the issues tackled in this first issue of iNSIGHTS. We also reflect on the achievements of young people in industry, we welcome Phil Brownsord who heads our MAS operations and we highlight some forthcoming events.
When you’ve looked through iNSIGHTS, we’d very much welcome your feedback about what you like and how we can improve. Please send your
comments to Paul Trueman, our Editor, at insights@eef.org.uk
Thank you for your continuing support.
