New landfill requirements come into force

New requirements under the Landfill Regulations, which require all non-hazardous liquid waste to be banned and all solid waste to be treated before being disposed of to landfill, come into force October 30th.

The new requirements may impact on every business that produces some form of waste. They implement the remaining parts of the EU Landfill Directive and are designed to increase waste recycling and recover and reduce the impact of waste when landfilled.

The pre-treatment requirements now in force mean that landfill sites can no longer accept waste that has not been pre-treated.

To find out what this means to your company, read our guide - Pre-treatment of waste - do you know your obligations?.
