Campaigns

Briefing on the key campaigns on which EEF is representing the interests of its members.
These are the environmental issues which are of key importance, or have most impact on manufacturing. EEF has a high profile representation programme, meeting government and officials at the highest level, including regular meetings with the Environment Minister, the head of regulation at the Environment Agency and the Environmental Tax Team at the Treasury. We are also highly active in European lobbying, putting forward members views to MEPs in Brussels and Strasbourg as well as meeting officials at the Commission and UK's permanent representation to Council.

Climate Change - Climate Change Levy and Emissions Trading

EEF has campaigned successfully for widening access to Climate Change Levy Agreements. We are putting forward our concerns about the impact of UK and EU climate change policy on industry competitiveness at the highest levels of government.

IPPC

EEF has regular meetings with the Environment Agency and DEFRA to ensure the workability of the Pollution Prevention and Control regime and the associated Air Pollution Control in Local Authorities. We are focusing on delivering workable costing methods and a streamlined application system.

REACH Chemicals Testing

EEF is representing the interests of our members as downstream users of chemicals. We are meeting with key MEPs and officials and are liaising our campaign with our sister European organisations such as CEEMET and Eurofer.

Waste

EEF is putting forward its concerns about the impact of the forthcoming plethora of new waste laws on manufacturing. We are meeting with DEFRA, the Cabinet Office, Environment Agency and the waste industry to ensure that the waste management infrastructuer will be able to cope with the new demands.
