Increase in compensation limits

From 1 February  2008, the limits applying to certain awards payable under employment legislation will increase.

The main points to note are as follows:

  • The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will be increased from £60,600 to £63,000.
  • The maximum amount for a week’s pay (for the purpose of calculating a basic award for unfair dismissal or for a redundancy payment) will be increased from £310 to £330.
The limit on the amount of guarantee payment payable to an employee in respect of any day will be increased from £19.60 to £20.40.
