appropriate hourly rate

Under some statutory rights to time off, such as for union duties (time off for union duties ) or antenatal care (antenatal care ), employees are entitled to be paid during their time off.

Payment should be at the employee's 'appropriate hourly rate'. This is normally the employee's week's pay divided by the number of normal working hours in a week. If the employee's normal working hours differ from week to week or over a longer period, the week's pay is divided by the employee's average normal working hours over the past 12 weeks.
