new employees

Where an employee is a new recruit, so that it is not possible to apply the usual rules on calculating a week's pay, the employee's week's pay is the amount that fairly represents a week's pay. What is fair is determined in the light of the usual rules and what other people doing comparable work are paid.

In making these calculations, employment with a previous employer that counts as part of the employee's period of continuous employment (calculating continuous employment) is taken into account.
