An employee has left before the end of his notice.

An employee has left before the end of his notice. Do we have to pay him the balance of the notice period?
If the employee left of his own volition during his notice then the employer does not have to pay him for the balance of the notice period. The position is the same whether it was the employee or employer who initially gave notice of termination of employment.
