EEF response to the DTI's consultation entitled 'Equality and Diversity: Coming of Age'

Our response to the DTI's consultation on age discrimination is available here.

EEF is pleased to record its appreciation that the DTI has listened to many of the concerns of employers in formulating the draft Employment Equality (Age) Regulations.

EEF believes the Government must take a stronger lead in developing a wide-ranging public education campaign to ensure the right message about age discrimination begins to take hold in society. The burden should not be left to employers alone.

The major changes which the new law will bring about require a longer period of adjustment than is currently envisaged between enactment of the law and its coming into force.
