East Midlands and Mid-Anglia

The 2007 awards ceremony was held on 15 June 2007 at EEF East Midlands and Mid-Anglia, Barleythorpe.
Daniel Walker , a third year apprentice from Shearline Precision Engineering won the overall prize. He impressed the judges with his technical and academic achievements, commitment to his career, and also his enthusiasm for sharing his experiences with other young people.
The other winners were Steve Euerby (Rolls-Royce third year), Kyle Duncan (Rolls-Royce first year) and Matthew Wright (Timsons first year).

West Midlands

The 2006 awards ceremony was held on 23rd November 2006 at the ICC in Birmingham.
The 12 finalists were Joseph Baker - Sandvik Hard Materials, Nimesh Chauhan - Openreach, Peter Mason - Grupo Antolin, Stuart Morrison - Rolls-Royce plc, Nicholas Newman - Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems, Anthony O'Mahoney - Mettis Aerospace Ltd, Aaron Taylor - Denso Manufacturing UK Ltd, Tom White - Goodrich Engine Control Systems, Steven Baister - Rolls-Royce plc, Jamie Bright - Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Darshan Desai - CCS Technology, John Hall - Specail Metals Wiggin, Christian Mullings - Openreach, John Read - Denco Ltd, Richard Smith - EU-Matic, and Sadeque Uddin - Goodrich Actuation Systems.
Two overall winners were Jamie Bright, and Aaron Taylor.
The Company Best Practice Award – Small Company, was won by CCS Technology in Coventry, which employs 2 apprentices in a workforce of 11, and uses Midland Group Training Scheme to deliver the programme.
The Company Best Practice Award – Large Company, was won by Goodrich Actuation Systems in Wolverhampton, which uses the EEF Technology Centre.
The Education and Training Best Practice Award went to Midland Group Training Scheme (a GTA).
South West

The 2006 Awards were held at the Winter Gardens on 6th December 2006. Robert Llewellyn presented the overall prize to Nathan Cole of Rolls-Royce plc and Filton College.

The winners from the 2006 awards were: Gavin Stuart (Initial Stage) Hyfforddiant Mon Training, Jamie Griffiths (2nd to 4th year) of FSG Tool & Die Ltd (SME) and Training Services Wales, Kimberley Williams (2nd to 4th year) of Anglesey Aluminium Metals Ltd (Non SME) and Hyfforddiant Mon Training. The prizes were presented by Ruth Badger and Jo Salter.

Not all our Associations run these competitions. If your company is located in an area which is not covered, you may like to consider entry into the LSC National Apprentice Awards, sponsored by City & Guilds. This covers the whole country, and all industrial sectors, with prizes for the Apprentice of the Year, Personal Achiever of the Year, and Employer of the Year.
