Can you offer work experience for careers advisers?

ETB are piloting a scheme to place 10 to 15 advisers from Higher Education, Further Education, Connexions and schools into engineering companies for a 1-2 day intensive shadowing experience taking place over the summer months

It is becoming more and more important that young people today have the best information about companies and the work they do so they can be sure of the options available to them and the potential careers development options.

To ensure that careers information, advice and guidance experts encourage young people to pursue their dreams and have a deep understanding of the engineering professions today, the ETB is working with the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and the Institute of Careers Guidance (ICG) on a work shadowing pilot for careers advisers.

The pilot is designed to identify best practice and determine possible barriers to success ahead of a possible proposal to develop a national scheme.

A number of companies are already involved – Rolls-Royce, AMEC, BAE, Vodafone and Airbus have all taken part or are supporting the scheme.
