The scenta.co.uk careers website, aimed at the 16 plus audience, and managed by the ETB, currently hosts 500 profiles of real people, doing real jobs in science, engineering and technology.
Over the coming months, the ETB aims to expand the size of the database to 1,000 individual job profiles. To do this, they’re asking people who are keen to promote an accurate and inspiring image of the science and engineering professions, to log on to www.scenta.co.uk/rolemodels and fill out a short questionnaire.
Spending just one lunch break filling in a simple online profile, could provide inspiration to the thousands of people who visit the site each month.
Fabulous prize draw!
In return, the ETB is running a rolling prize draw. All profiles completed by the 1 January 2007 could win vouchers for 2 people for a Eurostar Weekend Break. There will then be a rolling programme of prizes including an IBM ThinkPad R50e 1.4G laptop, an Archos 604 30G portable multimedia player, a spa day at Champneys and a selection of Rough Guides.
The database is designed to create the important ‘that could be me’ factor by connecting young people’s interests and lifestyles with actual jobs.
Recent improvements to the profile questions will help boost that connection even more by portraying the personality behind the profile, the breadth of progression routes into STEM careers, and providing insights into the most fulfilling aspects of the jobs.
So take some time out to inspire the next generation by promoting the job you enjoy.
