Specialised Diploma for manufacturing  - what's in a name?

The new Specialised Diploma in manufacturing is being piloted from 2008

To complement the Specialised Diploma (SD) in Engineering, which is being introduced from 2007, an SD in manufacturing is also under development.  But what should it be called?

The SD has three main themes - Business & enterprise, science & technology, and production systems.  The full draft learning outcomes can be downloaded here.

A number of consultation events have been taking place around the country on the content, structure, and assessment of the SD.

But as yet there is no consensus on what it should be called.

The current favoured options are:

  • Diploma in Product Design and Manufacturing;
  • Diploma in Technology and Production; or
  • Diploma for Manufacturing

If you would like to "vote" for one of the options above, please send your choice to enquiries@manufacturingdiploma.co.uk by Friday 3rd November.

All entrants will be entered in a draw to win £100 in vouchers from Rapid Electronics!
