NFEC is a membership organisation which brings together providers of engineering education, whether they be colleges, group training associations, training providers schools, or employers.
NFEC:
- operates local networks which bring together member organisations to share best practice and collectively resolve problems;
- delivers consultancy support to help members improve learning and teaching quality;
- lobbies government, awarding bodies, sector skills councils and other organisations on issues of concern to members;
- provides members with the latest information on national, regional and local developments in post-16 engineering and technology learning; and
- supports the continuing professional development of managers and staff in learning providers.
What does NFEC do for engineering employers?
NFEC helps employers in two ways:
By supporting employer members
Employer members of NFEC receive the following benefits:
- Information about relevant developments in teaching and learning
- Advice on funding and interpretation of government policy
- Dissemination of effective teaching and learning strategies throughout the workplace
- Help with preparation for inspection
- Guidance on delivery of apprenticeship frameworks
By improving the teaching of engineering post-16
- Every member of NFEC becomes part of a wider network of excellence, sharing best practice and improving teaching. Employers and customers then benefit from better training provision and more responsive providers.
