LSC Priorities for Success

Summary of EEF response:

EEF welcomes the opportunity to comment on the LSC’s Priorities for Success. The engineering and manufacturing sector is under acute pressure on costs, while attempting to improve its skills base to meet the future challenges of innovation. Engineering training is already very expensive, and highly successful, and yet the paper’s proposals appear to be penalise employers on both counts! We also have serious concerns regarding the continual prioritisation of 16-18 year olds at the expense of older trainees, and the preferential funding proposed for 16-18’s in FE colleges over work-based learning provision.
