Science and Innovation: working towards a ten-year framework

EEF/SEMTA responded to the recent consultation paper on the science and innovation strategy.

Key points for building a sound ten-year structure

  1. A continuing step change in the responsiveness of the research base to the needs of the economy and public services.
  2. A more responsive supply of science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills to the economy, and greater flexibility within universities to attract the skills they need.
  3. Increased business investment in Research and Development (R&D) and increased business engagement In drawing on the UK science base for ideas and talent.
  4. Confidence across UK society in scientific research and innovative applications.
