trade, exports and emerging markets

Exports of manufactured goods amounted to some £175bn in 2005, furthermore, some nine out of ten EEF members are exporters. The rapid pace of globalisation has both increased competition for UK firms and opened up opportunities in new, emerging markets. Greater integration of the world economy also presents opportunities for firms to expand or offshore some functions in lower cost locations.

There is a range of support measures available for firms new to exporting or seeking to exploit new markets. Firms can access information on the sources of help available on EEF’s website. In addition, EEF’s research highlights trends in emerging markets and provides a spotlight on potential offshoring and trade locations.
