Economic Briefing - October 2005

A monthly bulletin examining economic trends for manufacturing, engineering and technology-based businesses.

Recent data releases paint a mixed picture and there are a number of uncertainties facing the UK economy. Our view this month is that, subject to new data released before next week’s meeting, the MPC should leave rates on hold this month. With the case for a cut building, it should be ready to act if signs of a more persistent consumer slowdown emerge.

In this month's briefing:

  • Inflation
  • Manufacturing Output
  • GDP Growth
  • Unemployment
  • Housing Market
  • Earnings
  • International Indicators
  • Market Watch - Germany

The next Economic Briefing will be available on 4th November
