economics and industrial policy

EEF’s economics and industrial policy team develops our stance on a wide variety of issues that impact on the competitiveness of UK manufacturing at a regional and national level.

This includes monitoring the impact of low cost economies and offshoring, campaigning for greater resources for research and development, a more highly skilled workforce and, developing policies to promote science and innovation.

We produce a range of surveys and in depth economic policy reports which we use to help inform our member companies on issues affecting them. We also campaign with all political parties for policies designed to foster a more competitive manufacturing sector in the UK.
