This course provides a very thorough introduction to employment law, covering the most common practical applications. It includes consideration of case studies that take full account of current case law and statutory changes.

It is delivered by staff who are employment law practitioners, with extensive experience of representing employers at tribunals. They advise organisations daily on how to deal fairly with all disciplinary and capability issues to best protect them from a finding of ‘unfair dismissal’.

Using a practical approach, the seminar will enable delegates to avoid the many pitfalls in dealing with employment issues, by providing a working knowledge of what constitutes a fair procedure based on current law and practice. It covers the following:

• Contracts of employment
• Individual rights (including family friendly rights)
• Collective rights (including trade union rights)
• The basic rules of sex, race, disability and age discrimination
• How to discipline and dismiss fairly
• The rules relating to redundancy
