Develop and implement effective environmental management systems

Developing effective and certified environmental management systems (EMS) is an essential requirement for many organisations.

The IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management provides delegates with the basic knowledge and skills to become effective environmental managers and the ability to set up an EMS that can be integrated into existing management systems.

The course includes visits to sites of industrial and ecological relevance.

Assessment is by written examination and submission of a work based environmental review, which provides the basis for either establishing or enhancing their EMS.

• a detailed awareness of environmental legislation and polluting activities
• an understanding of the application of risk assessment in determining significant environmental aspects
• knowledge of how to use life cycle assessment in the development of products

• knowledge of how to conduct environmental reviews
• an understanding of environmental management systems
• the skills to develop effective environmental policies
• knowledge of how to set appropriate objectives and targets
• an understanding of the effective implementation of the EMS systems
• the skills to write effective control procedures
• how to monitor and review your EMS.

Peeople responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental management systems to ISO 14001, for example. environmental, health and safety and quality managers.

Successful completion of this course gives delegates Associate Membership of IEMA.
