You will gain an introductory understanding of:

UK legislative requirements including the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Environment Act 1995, Pollution Prevention Control Act 1999 and the Water Resources/Industry Acts 1991. Enforcement Powers
Authorised, consented, permitted and licensed activities
The duty of care with respect to wastes including special (hazardous) waste
Media at risk - air, land and water
Identification and evaluation of environmental aspects
Pollution prevention and control measures
Water pollution controls
Waste minimisation including waste hierarchy and practical options
Environmental management systems - ISO 14001, EMAS
Environmental auditing
Pollution prevention & control

Managers, safety practitioners and others who have a responsibility for environmental issues and require a basic level of understanding.
