This course provides delegates with a full understanding of the key health, safety and welfare issues affecting the modern office. Whilst there is reference to the law this course seeks to offer practical and pragmatic solutions to everyday safety issues.

The course will cover:

• Display Screen Equipment - ergonomic effects of incorrect use, risk assessment, sight tests and provision of spectacles, special considerations for notebook users
• Noise at Work - how the new noise at work regulations 2005 affect the office environment in particular customer service departments
• Welfare arrangements including space, temperature and ventilation
• Access and egress in the office, linking into fire safety and with a view to complying with the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2006 Manual Handling - ergonomic effects, "light" purchasing policies, office layout
• Portable appliance testing (PAT) and pre-use checks for electrical equipment
• Stress at work, practical aspects of recognition and prevention
• Surgery - Delegates' individual office issues are discussed and solutions suggested
