Practical Risk Assessment

Course Overview

How to carry out successful risk assessments

Risk Assessment is the cornerstone in current health and safety legislation. In their leaflet '5 steps to risk assessment', the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) describe risk assessment as "nothing more than a careful examination of what could cause harm to people, so that employers can decide whether enough precautions have been taken, or whether more needs to be done to prevent harm".

This practical course enables delegates to understand and carry out risk assessments using a simple approach. By the end of the course, delegates will be able to carry out risk assessments based on the 5 step approach, as well as looking at assessments under other legislation, such as Manual Handling, CoSHH and Display Screen Equipment.
