NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health

This course provides delegates with a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of health and safety issues relevant to business and leads to a nationally recognised qualification. It is the ideal foundation for anyone wishes to be a designated competent person.

Course Content

The training programme follows the NEBOSH Certificate syllabus. This includes:

Health and safety law
General workplace hazards
Health hazards
Risk assessment
Safety policies
Safe systems of work and permits
Accident causation, investigation and reporting procedures
Fire prevention and precautions
Noise control
Materials handling
Human factors

Assessment and Qualification

Delegates are required to complete two written examination papers on the final day of the course and a practical assessment requiring the submission of a written report within seven days of course completion.

Both the examination papers and the projects are moderated by NEBOSH and successful candidates will be awarded the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

How to identify common hazards in the workplace, assess associated risks and advise on the required preventative measures
Learn to assist in the development of successful health and safety management strategies including the preparation of policy
Understand the main requirements of specific health and safety legislation and advise on best practice
How to conduct inspections, audits and accident investigations, providing appropriate recommendations where necessary
Develop joint consultation networks including Safety Committees
Understand human and organisational factors affecting health and safety performance
How to maintain records and appropriate information systems required to ensure continued performance and statutory compliance
Achieve a nationally recognised qualification
IOSH ‘Principles of Health and Safety at Work’ book

Managers, supervisors, safety representatives, representatives of employees safety and other non-specialists who may have a specific role to play in relation to workplace health and safety requiring sound training.
