Manual Handling for Instructors

This course was designed to enable companies to have someone on site trained to instruct others on all aspects of manual handling.

Upon completion of this course delegates should be able to:

Instruct people on their obligations with respect to statutory requirements relating to the manual handling of loads.
Produce a code of practice for manual handling procedures in their own working environment.
Instruct operators on their duties and responsibilities in relation to manual handling.
Instruct operators in safe working practices and methods, using correct manual handling techniques.
Develop effective training programmes and schedules in the field of manual handling, applicable to their own environment.
Measure levels of instruction and maintain minimum requirements.
Recognise the need for, and the requirements of, a safe system of work in relation to manual handling.
Carry out manual handling assessments in line with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

We suggest that companies re-license their instructors every 2 years to ensure they are still effective and fully up-to-date with current regulations.
