Managing Contractors

Legislation and case law lay down specific duties for employers, clients or occupiers of premises to control contractors. Where the number of contractors does not exceed five, or where ‘construction work’ does not apply, then those in control do not have to comply with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations. However, other systems and procedures are required by legislation to be in place and the recent HSE publication Managing Contractors needs to be followed.
