Many substances can harm you if they get into your body. Exposure can have an immediate effect and repeated exposure can damage your lungs, liver or other organs. Some substances may cause asthma and many can damage the skin.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002 require every employer to identify the substances in use at the workplace and to 'assess' whether they present a 'risk' to employed persons. Such assessments must be recorded and any risks prevented or controlled.

This course covers the statutory requirements, the process of assessment and the methods and monitoring of control strategies.
