The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 came into force to ensure electrical safety in the workplace.  The Regulations are widespread and place extensive responsibilities on employers, the self-employed and employees to ensure that systems are safely designed, installed and used at the workplace.

The enforcing authorities will not accept an excuse for failing to comply due to a lack of knowledge - ignorance cannot be used as mitigation in legal proceedings.
