IOA Certificate of Competence in Workplace Noise Assessment

5-day Examined Course

This course is aimed at personnel who need to be able to carry out Workplace Noise Assessments and devise effective company Noise Management Programmes to meet the requirements of the Noise at Work Regulations.

As part of the course, delegates undertake a practical and written assignment. Successful candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Competence as validated by the Institute of Acoustics.

This five-day course will include:

Basic concepts of noise
Measurement and instrumentation
Noise exposure assessment
Hearing, hearing loss measurement and protection
Legal aspects including the regulations
Noise reduction techniques

Delegates should bring a scientific calculator and a precision integrating sound level meter capable of measuring LEQ and incorporating an 'A' weighting network

Personnel who are actively involved in the carrying out of noise assessment in the workplace.
