Age Discrimination

An overview of the new Age Discrimination legislation
Course Overview

On 1 October 2006, one of the most far-reaching pieces of legislation so far came into force, the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 ("the Regulations").  These regulations apply to workers of all ages in both employment and vocational training and will prevent unjustified age discrimination.

In essence you need to ensure that employees are not discriminated against directly or indirectly on the grounds of their age unless this can be justified.  Employees must be protected against harassment and victimisation on the grounds of age.

The key to ensuring you don't fall foul of the regulations is to be informed and understand the legislation.  You need to have in place good practices and procedures to ensure complaince.
