The Carbon Reduction Commitment has the potential to affect all medium sized businesses and organisations in the UK, including the service sector and local government.

Initial financial implications of the new scheme will be upwards of £50,000 for even a small operation, rising considerably for more complex organisational structures.

Although it does not come into force until 1st January 2010, it will affect businesses well before that date. Budgetary commitments will need to be in place for the 2009-10 tax year, so you need to be planning for this NOW.
