Insights into UK manufacturing

Manufacturing is our future. Discuss.

Jeegar Kakkad July 01, 2009 14:06

Today, EEF launched a report on the future of manufacturing. It's really about the future of our economy, but it's caused quite a stir.

Most people have accepted the arguement that we can't afford a return to debt-driven growth as usual. But almost everybody we talk to gets a bit gun shy when it comes to actually making the changes necessary.

That's why the press have slated our report as a bad 1970s flashback.

But we don't mind. Half the purpose of this report is to launch a national debate on the future of our economy.

And we're not afraid to make bold tough calls that require not just government, but manufacturers themselves to gear up for the challenges of a new decade.
