Devolution

Devolving power, responsibility and money to local areas in England and away from central government can help to achieve stronger local growth.

Devolution offers an opportunity for faster, more responsive decision making to build stronger and fertile business environments right across the country.

Devolution can help to further embed industrial strategy foundations through local leadership, tailoring national programmes to local needs and ensuring faster and more responsive action.

As central government focusses on the wide ranging task of taking Britain out of EU membership, local government will have to continue to be nimble in addressing challenges that arise at the local level, including stepping up their support of growth through Devolution Deals.
