BERR launches free national WEEE seminars

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (formerly the DTI) is holding a series of free business briefing sessions on the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, which entered fully into force on 1 July 2007.

Are you confident you understand your legal requirements?

Despite the Regulations having entered into force a few months ago there is real concern that many businesses are still unaware of their obligations:

  • If you are manufacturing, importing or branding electronic products, you need to make sure you understand your obligations as a ‘producer’ under the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations.

  • If you are retailing or distributing electronic products, if so, you need to make sure you fully understand your obligations as a ‘distributor’.

For further information read our guide here.

The free briefing sessions, run nationally by BERR, are aimed at raising awareness of the new requirements and providing businesses with the necessary information to ensure legal compliance. Each event will start off with a presention from BERR, followed by question and answers.

There are 11 events in total:

  • 18 September- Livingston, Scotland
  • 19 September- Cambridge
  • 24 September- London and Reading
  • 25 September- Bristol and Cardiff
  • 26 September- Birmingham and Manchester
  • 27 September- Newcastle and Leeds
  • 28 September- Nottingham
