EA consults on Water Framework Directive

The Environment Agency (EA) has published consultations on the Significant Water Management Issues (SWMIs) for each river basin district in England and Wales. This is the second in a series of consultation documents on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive.

The consultations outline the EA’s main concerns affecting the water environment. It gives examples of what has already been do to tackle these issues, in addition to providing further measures that may be needed. The EA is keen to understand how the information and proposals affect individual business interests.

EEF will not be responding to the individual consultations so you are recommended to review the consultation and supporting document for your River Basin District. The online consultative process allows you to make your comments public, and see others' comments before posting your own. Stakeholder responses are sought by 24 January 2008.
