This Register of Environmental Legislation provides an accessible, comprehensive and simple guide to the principal environmental legislation that could affect a manufacturing company in England and Wales.
For the fundamentals on environmental management see the Environment Guide. The Register and the Environment Guide will be helpful to companies of all sizes, including small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Register will be particularly useful to those companies who are conducting an initial environmental review or a compliance audit, and to companies who are introducing an environmental management system (EMS), whether or not the objective is certification or registration with an EMS standard or scheme.
A significant change in 2008 was the introduction of Environmental Permitting which replaced the system of permitting under Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control and Waste Management Licensing.
