This is the UK’s priority list of substances (introduced in 1989), which are subject to strict control in order to prevent contamination of water.
The list is used as a basis for defining: ‘special category effluent’ - under the Trade Effluents (Prescribed Processes and Substances) Regulations 1989 (as amended).
The list includes EU List I substances (the ‘Black List’).
