- Involve all stakeholders when you are developing and implementing a drugs and alcohol misuse policy, particularly employees or their representatives.
- Ensure that any arrangements you have for drug testing are included in your policy and that any drug testing you initiate is completely in line with the policy.
- Conduct any drug / alcohol / substance testing through an approved organisation which can provide you with all the legally required chain of evidence and necessary support, should the case be taken to court.
- Ensure that the implementation arrangements for your drugs and alcohol misuse policy are seen to be equally applicable to all members of your company’s staff.
