action plan

An action plan arising from a noise risk assessment should make specific recommendations to reduce exposure to noise, preferably to below the first action level. It should include:

  • details of changes to work practices;
  • changes to equipment (to reduce noise levels at source);
  • minimum specifications for hearing protectors;
  • the need or desire for permanent active noise level monitors; and
  • training required for the exposed operators.

Line manager(s) should be responsible for implementing the recommendations.
