What to do
Any work in a confined space needs to:
- take place outside the confined space wherever possible;
- be fully planned and assessed by a competent person before any work starts, where the point above cannot be achieved;
- consider specified risks as listed above and in the pro-forma hyperlink below;
- specify a suitable safe system of work to cover all reasonably foreseeable eventualities;
- specify suitable emergency and rescue arrangements which consider both the rescuers as well as the persons being rescued; and
- specify minimum training requirements and ensure that all persons involved meet these.
