A brighter outlook for manufacturing

EEF Chief Economist Lee Hopley echoed the more positive mood during Manufacturing Week at a dinner in Manchester for members, hosted by accountancy network BDO LLP.

Sharing the findings of the first quarter Manufacturing Outlook, EEF's snapshot survey of business conditions, Lee said manufacturers were looking to the future with greater confidence and reporting signs of improving demand.

Manufacturing OutlookManufacturing Outlook expands the coverage of our long-running Business Trends Survey to include a wider range of manufacturing sectors and analysis. In addition to our standard engineering sectors, this new report also covers food and drink, chemicals, rubber and plastics and non-metallic mineral products. And for the first time we report responses for manufacturing as well as engineering.

As the world economy returns to growth, and manufacturing with it, Manufacturing Outlook reports the most up-to-date trends and the outlook for manufacturing from across the UK.
