EEF helps Mecc Alte streamline its processes

A Leicestershire company is saving almost £250,000 a year after implementing lean manufacturing with the help of EEF’s Apprentice and Skills Centre in Birmingham.

“I firmly believe that the quality and depth of the training delivered by EEF has permanently enhanced the performance of the company”

Mecc Alte (UK) Ltd has seen its business grow and its services expand over the past few years. It wanted to understand and assess its operating procedures fully to ensure they were able to support the business moving forward.

Needing to continue providing customers with a high-quality value-for-money service while growing the business, Mecc Alte focused on lean techniques, robust production planning software, bottleneck control, production flow and supply techniques.

EEF trained management and shop floor staff to help Mecc Alte achieve a better qualified workforce. Employees who received training achieved annual savings of £250,000 through increased productivity.

“Our training helped Mecc Alte make a number of improvements in quality, cost and delivery,” said Mary Ball, EEF Development Coordinator.

Rob Watson, Mecc Alte Operations Manager, said: “I firmly believe that the quality and depth of the training delivered by EEF has permanently enhanced the performance of the company, the evolution of four processes and the self-belief our workforce have in themselves. This has helped us develop a culture of continuous improvement across all areas, enhance our flexibility and deliver on all major KPIs.”
