With Train to Gain funding for the NEBOSH diploma, employers will pay only 40 per cent of the training cost
Greg Ward, EEF
Earlier this month, EEF won a Train to Gain contract to provide small and medium-sized (SME) companies with 60 per cent funded training for NEBOSH’s Diploma, the recognised qualification for health and safety professionals.
The new money is a boost to manufacturers in Yorkshire where all government funding for health and safety training was axed overnight last June. EEF campaigned to get support for skills development back into the region and welcomes the move to help employees of SMEs gain the Diploma.
From September, we are running evening, day release and block release Diploma courses for 100 delegates whose employers will pay only 40 per cent of the training cost. These funded courses will run alongside our normal training provision for health and safety qualifications at all levels.
Last year the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing approved EEF as the best-practice provider of health and safety training. Under a strategic partnership we help companies to develop health, safety and environmental management skills through the ‘World Class Skills’ initiative that aims to raise the UK to ‘highly skilled’ ’status in nthe global league.
Because we exist to serve our members, we take a ‘25-25-50’ approach to all our training activities: 25 per cent preparation with prospective candidates; 25 per cent training delivery by our own experienced, high-quality trainers; 50 per cent follow-up to facilitate continuous improvement by past trainees.
