EA steps up enforcement of pre-treatment requirements - find out what you need to do

The Environment Agency announced that rules requiring businesses to 'pre-treat' their waste before sending it to landfill are to be tightened up next month. Our updated guide explains.

Since the regulations came into force in last October, the Environment Agency has been taking a ‘light touch’ regulatory approach, focusing on raising awareness amongst businesses of the new requirements.

However from next month, businesses will be required to provide written evidence that their waste has been pre-treated or risk enforcement action.
