education and skills policy

Upskilling and re-training of the UK's current workforce, as well as developing the workforce of the future are key if we are to compete in the global economy. Long regarded as our achilles heel in attempts to improve our productivity, skills is right at the heart of government and business agenda.

EEF develops policies to ensure that vocational education is recognised as an equally valuable route to academic study and aims to boost investment in, as well as the image of, apprenticeships. We promote better careers advice and the teaching of science, engineering and technology at all levels. We also encourage a better understanding of engineering and manufacturing through links between education and business.
