Manufacturing pay settlements increase slightly to 2.7%

Manufacturing pay settlements have increased slightly to 2.7%, according to the latest information from EEF, the manufacturers' organisation.

The average level of settlements for the three months to the end of April 2006 was 2.7%, slightly higher than the figure for the previous three month period to the end of March of 2.6%.

In addition, during this period, the number of companies reporting that they had frozen pay fell slightly to just over 6%, with the number reporting that they had deferred their pay settlement remaining constant at 2.5% of all settlements.

The May 2006 Pay Bulletin covers 320 settlements covering 57,600 employees. Of these, the average settlement level was 2.7% in February, March and April 2006 although the figures for February and March were based on relatively small samples of settlements. These figures may be subject to revision to take into account settlements for this period that have not yet been received.
