Manufacturers welcome active industrial strategy and urge change of mindset within government to deliver

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation welcomed the announcement of a more active industrial strategy today and urged the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Business to drive through a change in the culture of government to ensure it can be delivered.

Commenting on the announcement, EEF Chief Economist, Steve Radley, said:

"Business will welcome this clear intention to deliver more balanced and sustainable economic growth with an active strategy to support Britain’s industrial base. This must be complemented by the measures announced in Wednesday’s Budget, not undermined with future tax rises. Any change in strategy will require a significant change in mindset if government departments are to deliver real change in the UK’s business environment."
